A therapist for 32 years, Graham Thompson has been successfully addressing issues that have become problematic for individuals, couples and families.
His main training in therapy has been in “family systems”, primarily the Gottman Method. He helps clients seek new solutions based upon their own experience to replace “solutions” that no longer work but may have been adopted out of their family-of-origin experience or that they have seen others use. He works to make clients independent and strong in themselves and not dependent upon therapy for happiness.
In therapy with families, his focus is to work toward all members of the family being given the opportunity to voice their reality and feelings. Areas of interest include:
- Issues out of one’s family-of-origin
- Marital and pre-marital assessment and therapy
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Co-dependency and dependency
- Low self-concept
- Post-divorce issues
